1. block
A block, box, region or subgrid is a rectangular section of the Sudoku where each number must appear once. In the typical 9 x 9 Sudoku, there are 9 regions, each 3 x 3. Sometimes the Sudoku will have alternate regions shaded so that they are easier to see.

4. cell

The numbers already present before the puzzle is started are called clues or givens.
